 Embrace of the TreeI was excited for this opportunity to draw influence from Rose O’Neill’s Embrace of the Tree/Death of First Love to reimagine the story of Daphne and Apollo. In this version, Daphne and her sisters are powerful and playful forest nymphs who use transformation to command and control their own destiny. No man may tame them, gods included. I hand dyed and needle felted all the fabric for the tableau and made the costumes for the forest nymphs.
